There is something absolutely captivating about the light and colour of Autumn in the New England Region of Northern NSW Australia. The high elevation and lack of air pollution make for such crystal clear skies and vibrant, brilliant sunshine. While at the same time the colours of fall present a dazzling palette of deep reds, crimson purple and yellow leaves. This piece is inspired by the impressionist movement from the early twentieth century. The work features cascading arpeggios of open 5ths and whole-tone scales and attempts to capture the vibrant light of autumn that lifts the spirit. This work is suitable for advanced and professional pianists, Amus level or above.
